WILL I NEED A ROAD PERMIT FOR MY SKIP?

When planning to place a skip on a public road, it’s essential to first secure a permit from your local council, a process we at We Waste can handle on your behalf.

If a skip is placed on council property, verges or the public highway you will require a Road Permit under the Highways Act 1980.

Skip Road Permits can only be obtained by a skip hire company from your local Council and 3 – 5 working days are required to process and obtain the permit.

Where required, skips will not be delivered until a Road Permit has been obtained.

HOW LONG DOES A SKIP PERMIT LAST?

Permits typically have a 7-day validity period, and we require a 3-5 working day notice prior to your desired delivery date to ensure we can obtain the necessary documentation.

Should your project extend beyond a week, we’re here to assist you in renewing the permit for an additional fee per subsequent 7-day period.

Our comprehensive road permit service includes liaising with the council, managing all the paperwork, and ensuring that your skip hire experience is seamless and compliant with local regulations. Lights and cones are also supplied by We Waste for a small one-off fee.

It’s important to plan ahead, as permit acquisition times can vary, and last-minute requests might lead to delays.

By entrusting We Waste with these logistics, you can focus on the task at hand without worrying about the legalities of skip placement.

Please refer to section 8 of our terms and conditions for further information regarding permits.
